Squngee Squirrel Feeder Helpful
Hints Tip #1 (Spring Tip) In the spring and summer, with the young and less experienced squirrels out and about, you might want to lower your corn so they can learn how to SQUNGEE. Try it with the bottom of the corn 8-12 inches above the ground. Once they figure it out, you can raise the corn back up. |
|
Tip #2 (Winter Tip) Avoid having your Squngee hang around with an empty cob for more than a day or two. Your squirrels might become bored and seek food elsewhere. (If they do start ignoring your Squngee, see tips #3 and #4 below). |
Tip #3 Peanut Butter is a great way to announce to your squirrels that your Squngee is up and running. Just smear a dab on the top of the corn (near the Squngee screw) and the squirrels will drop their acorns and scamper on over! Tip #4 Another way to encourage squirrels to Squngee is to put some corn, bread or sunflower seeds directly beneath your Squngee. |
|
Tip #5 Be sure to hang your Squngee where your dog can't frighten the squirrels. |
Tip #6 Save the grape jelly for the Orioles! The squirrels will look funny stained purple! |
Tip #7 (Autumn Tip) With so much "normal food" around in the Autumn, your squirrels might lose interest in your SQUNGEE for awhile. Don't worry, they'll be back. |
